Body found in Point McKenzie lake

The body of an unidentified person was found Saturday at the bottom of a lake on
Point McKenzie, Alaska State Troopers said. Troopers were notified about 3:50 p.m.
that a man had spotted an overturned canoe and a backpack floating in Barley Lake,
trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson said. Troopers and a dive team from the Matanuska-Susitna
Borough responded, and divers recovered the body, he said. Troopers were investigating,
and other details were unavailable Saturday evening, Wilkinson said.

Alaska State Troopers identified a man whose body was found floating in Barley Lake
on Point McKenzie last weekend. Rescue divers recovered the body of Larry E. Taylor,
41, of Anchorage. Taylor's body was discovered Saturday afternoon after witnesses
found a canoe and backpack floating in the lake. An autopsy was scheduled to be
performed in Anchorage today to determine cause of death.
